The LeapIT.io Founders speak about communication or lack thereof quite a bit. There is a thriving grey Hurricane sky in the recruiting world that impacts every single point of the hiring ecosystem. It is the lack of communication which is damaging to all.
Whilst actively hiring for our Flagship client, we constantly hear from Job Candidates that recruiters reach out to them and either never follow up, nor call nor offer an advisory service in the process to get them the best chance. Some Candidates are damaged, horrified and overly thankful after they walk through the door of Leap.
From the very beginning point of contact, every single Job seeker is welcomed and treated fairly, with respect, care, a keen eye for their skills and a bit of humour too to lighten up what can be a frustrating process.
Communicating a company history, culture, tech stack and vision empowers Candidates to not only have more information but to think for themselves whether the job role being considered is a good fit. We are not Robots here and Recruiting is all about “people.”
Call each Candidate at a minimum of at least once before submitting them to your valued Client. This builds respect and trust and will only prove to garner positive results. Email and Text are fine but you must speak with each person and “listen” and “learn” more about them.
Take notes and offer guidance and set a deadline to respond even if its an update of “still in process.”
As soon as the Client makes a decision inform the Candidate of yes or no immediately. Say Thank you for the time. We at LeapIT.io are hearing this end factor is not occurring at all and its troubling. We would not want to be treated with such lack of care; its not acceptable.
Everyone is special. And just this past week, we would like to share with you a beautiful example of “special” from a Senior UX Candidate who did not get selected. (We hope to get him a job soon, he is great!) here you go:
“I do not mind hearing the word, “no” because it is 100% clarity. Not hearing anything at all is worse!” Anonymous Senior UX Job Candidate
In Business school, they teach you to think with two brains. To the entire Recruiting world, please put yourself in the same shoes as the Candidates. Be mindful.
We dedicate this week’s Blog post to those who deserve a giant Thank You. Thank you for your time on behalf of LeapIT.io and we look forward to working with you soon. Contact us here
